The Hexagon Cup is a padel spectacle like no other. Over 5 days at the end of January 2025 the world’s top players will take to the court at the Madrid Arena and battle it out under the name of their celebrity-owned teams. With a hugely successful inaugural event in 2024, the second edition is promising to be even better and is definitely not one to miss. However, if you are not able to be there in person, don’t panic, the events global broadcast deal with DAZN (the largest global sports streaming platform in the world) means that you will be able to watch all of the action from any device all over the globe.

So, what is so special about the Hexagon Cup? Well, to start with the names it attracts are by no means just local celebrities. And no, I am not just referring to the players, it is the team owners and wider fans who really make the headlines. The likes of Andy Murray, Sergio Agüero, Eva Longoria, Robert Lewandowski and Pierre Gasly who all attract the worldwide attention that it deserves. This is not to suggest that the players are not big names either, in fact it is quite the opposite. All the top players in the world will be there, and the unique format means that you do not have to wait until the finals to see the best matches, they are on show throughout the event. The team format is also something that really elevates the event with the female, male and next-gen categories all contributing to their team scores and ensuring there is never a dull moment.

The Fan Zone

The event promises to be a fantastic fan experience with an exciting and interactive Fan Zone with live music, player appearances, top padel brands, and excellent culinary options. Within the arena, top-level matches from day 1, world-renowned DJs, incredible audio and lights shows, and fantastic competition help to take the experience above the rest. However, the in-person experience is not the only way to experience the excitement of the event. With DAZN broadcasting the event for free to over 200 countries worldwide, there is no excuse not to tune into the action.

If you aren’t familiar with DAZN, it is an over-the-top and direct-to-consumer sports broadcaster with unmatched global reach. This means that the service does not rely on traditional cable or satellite television services and sells a subscription-based model directly to fans. They already have a huge rights package in Spain including some domestic La Liga rights, Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, Formula 1 and they will offer enhanced Hexagon Cup viewing to their Spanish users. On the global level, the action will be available in all territories except for the USA completely free of charge. This will have a huge impact on the global reach of professional padel and there is no better player than DAZN to do this.

Global Reach

With the sports recent explosion of growth outside of the traditional markets of Argentina and Spain, the global interest in the professional game has also grown exponentially. As highlighted by the 2024 Playtomic Global Padel Report there are now 30 million players across over 100 countries and this worldwide growth is not looking like slowing down. Whilst inevitably the top players will come from established nations such as Spain and Argentina, it is also important that top-level action is available across the world, helping to cultivate player development and motivate improvement. Therefore, partnerships such as DAZN and Hexagon Cup as well as Premier Padel and Red Bull TV are hugely important in fostering sustainable growth on a global scale.
