Playtomic’s Global Padel Report 2025 offers the most comprehensive snapshot yet of padel’s rapid rise across continents. Developed in partnership with PwC, the 2025 edition tracks the sport’s expanding footprint and explores the forces reshaping how it’s played, managed, and monetised. From emerging markets and urban hubs to digital disruption and Olympic ambitions, the report reveals a sport entering a new phase of global maturity. With padel’s momentum accelerating on and off the court, Playtomic positions itself at the heart of a fast-evolving ecosystem that blends grassroots growth with strategic foresight.

Picking Up Momentum – Padel’s Global Growth

Playtomic’s report conveys the truly global capacity of the sport; over 3,000 clubs were opened across the world in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 26% that translates to nearly nine new clubs per day. The introduction of so many fledgling clubs has led to the global tally of padel courts surpassing 50,000 in over 90 countries, and the 7,187 new courts opened in the last year represented a 17% increase on previous figures. The sport’s online presence has shared a similar trend in its expansion – padel’s Google search volume has grown 18% since 2016, illustrating how an ever-growing digital community is supporting the game’s global footprint. Along with this material representation of padel’s recent growth, Playtomic’s research highlights how the sport’s uptake will likely continue to flourish. With over 81,000 courts projected to exist globally by 2027, the report suggests that interest in padel is set to be sustained in the coming years.

New Pastures – Padel’s Impact on Emerging Markets

A key takeaway from Playtomic’s report is the consolidation of the UK’s position as a leading padel market. The country is now among the top three markets by revenue globally, with per-court revenue soaring by 74% as a year-on-year metric. Cities such as Leeds, London, Manchester and Bristol have become leading lights in Britain’s padel community and convey how the sport has integrated into the country’s urban landscape.

Along with the UK’s position as a leading market for padel, Playtomic has also shed light on the rapid expansion of other emerging destinations. The United States has emerged as a budding padel ecosystem, with urban hotspots including Miami, Los Angeles and New York. The nation is set to build on the 352 courts built in 2024, and it is widely expected that there will be a greater expansion rate by 2026-27. Padel’s prominence in Asia is also an important finding from the report; India recorded a court count that has quadrupled in size, whilst the urban centres of Indonesia’s Jakarta and Bali have driven a 173% increase in per-court revenue.

The Growth of the Digital Club – How New Ways to Play are Increasing Uptake

Playtomic have also revealed why padel uptake is increasing, with the rise of ‘digital clubs’ playing a large part in the sport’s booming popularity. The shift from exclusive memberships to app-based, pay-to-play access has signified an increasingly digitised means of attracting new players. The report highlighted how open matches account for 80-90% of bookings in some mature markets, and that this format of organisation has a higher average ticket value than classes or leagues. This apparent advantage to digital clubs is matched by the fact that they outperform their non-digital neighbours by 3-5x in revenue and retention, signifying a new age for the sport’s business model.

Future Trajectory and Olympic Push

With the FIP now consisting of 87 nations, Playtomic’s report stresses that 2025 is crucial for padel’s Olympic hopes. The 2032 Brisbane Olympic lineup will be decided in 2026, meaning that padel’s boom in global popularity has come at the right time. The sport’s 92% retention rate conveys the sustained nature of its expansion, a feature crucial to whether or not the sport is included within the Olympic schedule. Olympic inclusion would bring increased funding, institutional support, new sponsorships to the sport, and media visibility internationally, catapulting the sport to even greater levels of participation.

Ultimately, Playtomic’s 2025 Global Padel Report conveys the exciting trajectory of a global sport on both a professional and amateur level, highlighting just how quickly the global padel ecosystem is expanding.
